There are two types of traditional braces from which patients can choose: metal braces and clear braces.
Why choose clear braces?
Adults and adolescents don’t need to settle for traditional metal braces if they don’t want them. One of the esthetic alternatives to having metal braces on your teeth is clear, ceramic braces. Clear braces combine the best of traditional braces and invisible aligners to deliver a discrete treatment experience with exceptional clinical results. Many patients choose ceramic braces because they blend in better with the teeth and are less noticeable than traditional metal braces. This is especially true in photographs. It makes it so all those pictures you took on vacation or during the holidays aren’t only remembered as your “braces years”.
What are clear (ceramic) braces?
Ceramic braces are made of clear materials and are therefore less visible on your teeth than metal braces. They are very strong and do not stain with the foods you eat so they stay looking great throughout treatment. Clear braces work in the same way as metal braces. A white and translucent bracket is attached to the teeth to allow the orthodontist to move the teeth into an ideal alignment using an archwire.
How much are do they cost?
The cost of having clear braces is very similar to that of metal braces. The cost of any orthodontic treatment is dependent on the severity of your malocclusion. Your malocclusion involves two things: how crooked or “crowded” are your teeth and how far from ideal is the fit of your teeth. More significant treatments usually costs more than treatments that are simply “touch ups.” Let Dr. Pagan or Sarah know that you are interested in clear braces and they will explain everything from the cost of clear braces to the treatment specifics.
